Starting of the rehabilitated funicular of Santa Luzia, Viana do Castelo, Portugal…
“Viana do Castelo” is a city located to the north of Portugal, in the right margin of the estuary of the Lima river and is bathed by the Altlántico Ocean. The history of Viana Do Castelo , begins in Monte of Santa Luzia , where on the top of the mountain we find the beautiful Byzantine church of the same name; “Santa Luzia”.
To this hill it is possible to gain access , by means of a Funicular built in 1923, reformed in 1945 and finally closed down in 1995. In 2004 The Camera of Viana do Castelo adjudges by means of Public Competition, the rehabilitation of this Funicular to companies EFACEC and I.S.M., S.A., this last one, was in charge of the Design, Project, Construction and Starting of the electromechanical part of the Funicular.
